The Rural Education Action Program in China

The Rural Education Action Program implemented a nutritional school lunch program in this school as part of a larger randomized controlled trial examining the effect of eliminating under nutrition on school performance. Scott Rozelle, Helen C. Farnsworth Professor in International Agricultural Policy and Senior Fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research, was chatting with a student about his meals and about what he liked most about school and playing in the playground. One year after this (and a number of other action research efforts), the Chinese government launched a nation-wide National Nutritious School Lunch Program.
